Worship Style

Engaging a living liturgy in inspiring ambience

For many, worship style is the most important aspect of choosing a church. For some, the word “liturgy” brings to mind stuffy, boring Sunday services that seem to last forever.

If that’s your perspective, we want to change your mind. At Cherry Creek Pres, we embrace a model of living liturgy that emphasizes celebration and community – because worshipping God is never boring. We love liturgy because it enables our worship services to be meaningful, intentional, and rich. Learn more about each element of our Sunday services in our Worship Guide.

Our Sanctuary seats 900 and is designed traditionally with a pipe organ, full choir loft, stained glass windows and high ceilings. This beautiful setting inspires our worship as the voices of the choir soar through the space. But you’ll find that, while we worship in a High-Church setting, we value friendly, casual community. When you make your home at Cherry Creek Pres, you and your family will find life-long friends and a loving, supportive community.

Christian Formation

Looking more and more like Jesus as we seek Him together

We believe in digging deeper into God’s Word as we are formed in His image. Christian Formation is one of the most important aspects of our church body. Watch the video to learn more about Christian Formation @ Cherry Creek Pres.

Enriching the mind and soul at the intersection of faith and culture

chautauqua@creek is a public conversation featuring great speakers and topics that cut right to the heart of the intersection between culture and faith. Hosted each fall, chautauqua@creek events enrich both the mind and the soul. We design them to be informative and interesting for people of faith and non-believers alike.

In past years, we’ve hosted high-profile guests such as Eric Metaxas, Phillip Yancey, and Christopher Yuan, tackling tough topics including worldview, homosexuality, and the historical Jesus.

Doxology Gallery

Expressing our worship through inspirational art

The Doxology Gallery at Cherry Creek Pres is a visual arts gallery that serves as another form of expressing worship to God. You can find us in the Main Building near the East Entrance. Our displays change throughout the year.

As Francis Schaeffer says,

“For a Christian, the Lordship of Christ should include an interest in the arts. A Christian should use these arts to the glory of God — not just as tracts, but as things of beauty to the praise of God. An art work can be a doxology in itself.”

Celebrating the Resurrection for more than just a day

The death and resurrection of Jesus Christ is the center of who we are as a church. As such, we don’t limit ourselves to just one day of commemoration and celebration.

At Cherry Creek Pres, Easter begins with the season of Lent, a 40-day period of pondering the sacrifice of Jesus for us as we confess our sins and allow Him to form us in His image.

Then, during Holy Week, we put on a Prayer Walk – a self-guided, artistic, and deeply spiritual journey that moves you through various stations of reflection, prayer, and worship. Hundreds of individuals and families from our congregation and around the Denver Metro area attend as a way to reflect on the Gospel message and the centrality of Easter.

On Thursday of Holy Week, we throw a family-friendly Maundy Thursday feast, complete with Israeli dancing, a Mediterranean-style meal, and observing the Lord’s Supper together.

On Friday, we host a Tenebrae-style Good Friday service – a somber service that grows progressively darker as we remember our Lord’s suffering on our behalf.

Then, on Easter Sunday, we break into a triumphant celebration of the Resurrection – complete with bagpipes, bells, full choir, worship dancers, the Hallelujah chorus, and lilies as far as the eye can see. We also offer an outdoor sunrise service by the cross followed by a pancake breakfast.

Savoring our Savior’s birth with great anticipation

Like at Easter, Christmas celebrations begin well before Christmas Day at Cherry Creek Pres.

The Tuesday before Thanksgiving, our entire staff and members of our congregation gather and spend the day decking out the whole church for Christmas.

This ushers us into the season of Advent, when together we posture ourselves in anticipation and waiting for the four weeks leading up to Christmas.

Christmas Eve services are held throughout the day and include interactive Nativity plays for families, traditional candlelight services, and a midnight communion & carolsing.

Finally, Christmas is an important time for serving those around us. We meet the needs of others by participating with initiatives including Operation Christmas Child and Angel Tree, provide Christmas gifts and a big party for 50+ needy families, and feed the poor in our community through our Food Bank.
