╬ The Israelites lived in a context in which individual lives were determined by forces wildly beyond control, such as war, violence, famine, and disease. In our more comfortable, affluent context, has our perception of the fearsome, terrible majesty of our Lord been blunted by illusions of control such as retirement savings accounts, antibiotics, HVAC systems, or a robust rule of law? What comes to mind when you think of the fact that God is awesome?
