╬ We are better at deflecting blame and minimizing our sin than we are at contrition, confession, and repentance. Admitting wrong is often hard to do. Do you believe that God’s mercy and forgiveness is readily available to you? Or do you secretly believe that your sin is unforgivable? Ask God the Spirit to lead you to reconciliation with God.

╬ Fear is often at the core of our resistance to confession. Children and adults alike are afraid of “getting in trouble,” so we learn to lie and to deny and to deflect. The give and take of forgiveness among those we love can be complicated. The approach to forgiveness described above requires honesty, humility, and authentic conversation. Would you give this approach a try? Ask the Lord to lead you to forgiveness and reconciliation with those you love.
