Godspeed Pilgrimage

CCPC is going on a Pilgrimage together!
During the 40 days of Lent, from Ash Wednesday, Feb 18 to Holy Saturday, Apr 4, we journey together as Godspeed Pilgrims.

Guided by Matt Canlis’ book, Godspeed Pilgrim—40 Days Replanting in the Trinity, we will walk at Godspeed in our neighborhood Parish Paths as Scripture leads us in daily Bible Path narratives. Books will be available beginning on Wednesday, February 18th in the narthex.

Pilgrims Walk and Pray!
"In medieval times pilgrims often travelled in groups, partly to protect against bandits, but also because of the transforming power of community. Personal growth and lasting change come not only from saying 'Here I am' to God, but also saying 'Here we are' together with others." Matt Canlis

An individual pilgrim walks and prays, “Here I am, Lord.”
Pilgrims who journey together walk and pray, “Here WE are, Lord”!

"May you find the balance of knowing both the goodness of solitude with God, and solidarity with others." Matt Canlis

Follow these guidelines on your Godspeed Pilgrimage
ON YOUR OWN . . . “Here I am, Lord.”
  • Watch the Godspeed film. Find it at livegodspeed.org or on RightNowMedia.
  • Read the Introduction (pages 1-20) in your Godspeed Pilgrim book.
  • Find your Pilgrim Path in your neighborhood/parish. Where will you walk with God?
  • Begin your 40-day pilgrimage on Sunday, February 22nd.
  • Each day, read the Scripture, Bible Path, and Parish Path in the book. Walk and pray for at least 15 minutes.
  • Pay attention as you walk—what draws you in? Be creative with what you see—take notes, draw a picture in the margin of your Godspeed Pilgrim book.

WITH OTHERS . . . “Here WE are, Lord.”
  • Who can join you on your walking and praying pilgrimage? A friend, a family member, a neighbor. Experience the transforming power of community as you walk your Pilgrim Path.
  • Who might join you to talk about your Godspeed Pilgrimage?
    • What Bible Path story challenged you?
    • What Scripture reading spoke to you?
    • What story can you share from your Parish Path walk?
    • What is your Godspeed Pilgrimage revealing about God, your neighbor, and yourself?

Godspeed Bookmarks
The Godspeed Pilgrim bookmarks are made with paper containing wildflower seeds to be planted. It has Ice Plant, Baby Breath, & Sweet Asylum seeds. These are great pollinators and are amazing for the bees! Here are the planting instructions:
  • Soak the card in some water.
  • Fill a pot with compost. Tear up the cards and place on top then cover with a little compost.
  • Give the card and soil a good water. Make sure to keep the card damp and water regularly.
  • Put the pot somewhere warm and sunny.
  • When the flowers start growing, make sure to re-pot them if needed or place them in a suitable place directly in the garden.
  • It can take up to 8 weeks to germinate these flowers.
May your prayers grow as these flowers grow.
